Who Owns the Vans and Trucks?
The answer to that is very mixed. There are national and regional TV networks, rental companies and independent producti9n companies. Call letter news operations and sports, at times are the users and many of those trucks are owned by stations, station groups or networks. But there are sports specialists who rent the trucks to those same networks, as well.
Sometimes it is more sensible to utilize the studios residing in the outside truck parked alongside the building or arena in which production is originating – case in point the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center in NYC where 30 years later, trucks do the heavy lifting, rather than a huge studio being built inside the building – thus minimizing the impact on the host client’s building......
